This was annoying to see-and it lasts for around 10 mins on my Mac. I found this strange for a Mac, as I've not seen this issue on any computer yet, and Mac's are know for their stability. One day, I noticed that the cursor due to some reason is laggy, or just say choppy. I won't call myself a Power User-but sure I keep a lot of apps open.

No lags, and yeah, it's a complete powerhouse. Until recently-everything was working fine. In April '22, I got myself a MacBook Air. (SKIP THE INTRO AND ISSUE Part if you want the Solution for the issue: TL DR)

I think by now its quite obvious its just a Monterrey thing at this point if everyones having the issue after the monterey update! Hopefully theyll fix this in a future firmware update and wont make us have to buy the next gen macbook.

I did lots of research about the m1 chips and comparisons between m1 air v pro and there definitely isnt a huge difference surprisingly. I had no problems with either of them actually.īut when i bought this mb AIR, it really made me wonder if having no fan really makes a huge difference. Both were running big sur and were quite impressive coming from someone who uses a custom pc on a daily basis. I had a 2015 mbp with i7 16 gb ram and i also had a base model m1 macbook pro last year, both loaned to me by my university. I also feel like my setup is kinda laggy for being m1 with 16 gb ram. After it coming and going a few times i knew something was wrong so i updated my macbook and it never stopped happening. I decided not to update immediately and started browsing safari and within a few minutes i already started having this problem. It came with Monterey preinstalled but after i finished setup i checked the version and had to update to 12.2.1. I just bought a new m1 macbook air a couple weeks ago. I'm pretty committed to finding the culprit as I really don't want to do a factory reset. If you want, you can try this command in terminal to stress all cores on the machine yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & yes > /dev/null & Seems like under load the computation for the mouse position just goes haywire.ĭo you by any chance have SteelSeries exact mouse installed? or Logitech's Logi options or anything else that allows you to alter the mouse acceleration? My suspicion at this point would be a kernel extension that doesn't really fly with the arm silicon. Sure enough booting back up normally, run a stresstest and start working, within 10-20 minutes it's back.

I can almost 100% confirm at this point that it's a software issue, stresstesting in safe mode and working like normal. Yeah so I basically spend most of the day finally looking into this.
